European people are crazy about Chinese Kongfu and I can see them putting Lee Bruce’s pictures everywhere as their idol. But fewer europeans know about another legend of Chinese, Ye Wen and his Wing Tsum, the master of Lee Bruce. Ye was born in Foshan, a city of Guangdong Province, only 25km away from my hometown. I feel so proud to be borned in the same province as this great master of 1800s. Among all the movies I have watched in 2008,Ye Wen is the only one that can arouse my moral and courage to face my recent situation.
It is reported that Ye Wen has caused uproar in chinese sensitivity. The reason lies in the story. It tells about how Chinese nation fighted against Japanese invasion, how a nusha who practised kongfu for physical health turned to challenge the Leader of the Japanese Amry, how chinese nation changed from being invaded to resisting. I believe every Chinese who has watched this movie will become soul-stirring and emotion-touching. In 2008, China has been experiencing too many disasters. Chinese really need a reason to build up our own confidence and will. I believe Ye Wen tells again Chinese should be united. In 2008, I have also experienced too much hard time. I also need a movie like Ye wen to inspire me to stand up and be strong-minded again.
I really admire Ye’s answer to the Japanese official’s threaten that Ye had to teach Japanese army of his Wing Tsum,or he would die.Ye said “Chinese Kongfu includes philosophy of Confucianism which is ‘Do as you would be done by’, you Japanese changes Kongfu into violence and invasion, you are not good enough to learn Chinese Kongfu.”
“Do as you would be done by.” I believe most of european people cannot understand its essence. Reading news about how France gorvernment insists on destroying their relationship with Chinese government, we all know it is because of the difference of ideology between the two countries. That is also why some european people can never widespread what they learned from matial arts into their life. Of course, in Ye Wen, some Chinese also bullied their fellows with military force under hard time. So it is not an issue between cultural difference but with different people.
Do as you would be done by.” I repeated to myself with my stirring heart when I went out of the theatre.
