O- Well Scottish actor Ewan McGregor plays Nicole’s love interest in Moulin Rouge. We recently tracked him down at France at the Canne’s Film Festival.

We thought we might get some inside SCOOP on working with, you Nicole, but our interview took a turn when Nicole overheard what we were doing and decided...

N- No. He asked me to come in and interview him.

O- Oh, see he did.

N- Yeah! (smiles)

O- Okay.

N- Cos he was like bored, he was sitting there, he was doing lots of interviews and he said, “You interview me!”

O- So then you came in...

N- Yeah

O- Okay so this is what happened...

N- Mmm hmm

(CUT TO FILM: This is an edited interview, so where they have cut, I’ll type <snip> and also keep in mind there is lot’s of laughing, talking over each other and finishing each others sentences so reading it is a little different than seeing it)

N- Were you nervous taking a role where you had to sing? (Nicole is reading from a sheet of prepared questions)

E- No, singing is something I’ve done since I was a child. I love singing.

N- You’re such a liar.

E- (smiling) ...I love singing.

N- (laughs)

E- and, um it didn’t make me nervous at all...

N- …We we’re really nervous. (laughs)

E- I was pretending to be nervous to make you feel more comfortable.

N- Oh, right. (<bg>)

<snip>

E- We were quite nervous about it...but not particularly...

N-...I was really nervous! I was constantly nervous. Yes and you were confident.

E- But it was a lovely way for us to meet, don’t you think? Cos we met and started singing together almost immediately.

N- Yeah (looking at Ewan) ...that was kinda special wasn’t it?

E- and it’s quite a nice, it’s a nice way to meet somebody.

N- Boring. Boring. ...Bad interviewer. (giggles) Bad interviewer talking about herself!

Not good.

E- Is that right? (looking at Nic and smiling)

N- (laughing while speaking) Yeah, you’re not meant to talk...

E- (to the camera) Now Oprah, take note.

<snip>

N- Do you have a funny story (reads the rest to herself and then finishes out loud) about working with...Nicole...

E- ...Nicole Kidman.

N- We move on. (Trying to avoid his answer)

E- Now...well actually!!!

N- (laughs)

E- (fakes)...there was the time...

(Nicole covers Ewan’s mouth with her hand while laughing)

N- Don’t reveal anything.

E- (mouth still covered, muffled) No, no okay.

<snip>

N- Did you learn something about Nicole that no on would know?

E- Oh, yes.

(Ewan smiles looks at Nicole, she looks to him and they both grin)

N- Okay...

E- Moving along...

N & E- (Both burst out laughing [and audience])

N- Do you have a message for Nicole while she is on the Oprah show?

E- (sort of laughing, quietly says) Good luck.

N- (laughs) “Good luck!” (puts her head and arm on/next to Ewan’s shoulder)

E- (looking directly at her) Good luck. Oh my god, good luck!

<snip>

(Nicole has her hand directly on top of Ewan’s head patting/tapping up and down, then removes)

E- Seeing as Nicole is there with you Oprah. Why don’t you ask her to do diamonds??? (He says with charming, yet evil grin)

N- (Realises what Ewan just said, looks at him and points, mock telling him off)

Oh, you are sooo bad!

E- (laughs)

(CUT BACK TO OPRAH AND NICOLE IN STUDIO)
