Enchangted April, in fact, resembles much to the film A Room With A View in certain ways .Both films originate from famous novels and both tell the story of fine English ladies spent their holidays in the sunny and beautiful Italy. And of course both films try to discuss the woman's social problems which were emerging in the beginning of the 20th century.
But the two films end differently. In the "Room", Lucy finally married Emerson who was far below her social status, signifying the end of Victoria Age. But in "April", husbands came to their wives to save their marriages. Couples finally remained faithful to each other. A good happy ending.
In the 20th century, the freedom and care of women was a big topic
dicussed by many works. Free love and marriage was like looking for a good view and care from men sounded like a beautiful room for women. A happy woman needed both a room and a view. But this was not always the case. Lucy married Emerson meant she gained a good view in a less beautiful room. Twenty years later, the two wives unconsciously inviting their husbands to join them showed a precarious room stood erect again.Their love was strengthened by a trip to Italy.
