Undoutedly,I always believe that there is love at first sight, it doesn’t just happen on some certain circumstances,it is everywhere. But I thought I would not love it,when I saw the film’s name, A River Rus Through It, until I took the chance to know it further. On the other hand, I’m captive at first sight when a long shot of beautiful mountain scenery moves slowly from the sky.
Frankly, I have never counted on Brad Pitt before. I can’t tell exactly why,but what I know about him is he is an idol more than an influential actor,he is nothing underneath his good-looking face, he is just an impractical decoration to attract girls although the audience scream crazily when he shows up as a guy losing ones’s weight successfully and hating Rachel as same as when Bruce Willis shows up in Friends. What has changed my impression on him is the film The Curious Case About Benjamin Button , in which he is offered an nomination of the Best Actor Academy Award because of his perfect performance. I start paying more attention on him, and A River Runs Through It ,one of his early films, definitely won’t disappoint you if you haven’t seen it yet.
Different from the depression, desperation and sickness of Leaving Las Vegas, this film is filled with hope, beauty and happiness. Although their mood is contrary, they both are rare masterpieces.
Something that couldn’t be neglected is the picture which is magnetic enough to steal my eyes.Nothing is more delighting than beginning a journey of pure and peaceful mountain scenery. The most classic and charming picture is at when Norman and Paul are having fly fishing .Another unforgetable picture is at the journey when Jesse drives Norman home, they arrive at sunset time.I found that I was totally lost myself when the mild radiance of the sunset kisses their chins and at that moment I realized that dust dancing behind the cute car is live, the shadow of plants is live.
Undeniably,Paul is rebellious and he persues free mind. His courage to challenge the secular rules reminds me that he is a typical revolutionist. No matter Whether he dare drink wine at day publicly or bring an American Indian girl into a discriminating bar ,they both indicate that Paul is exceptional at his time. On the other hand, Norman is rational and mature as Paul’s older brother. Maybe we can say he is responsible to his family, but his dullness limits the number of laughter, so after Paul finishes his meal and has to leave, the laughter in this family has gone, what their parents both look is disappointed. Anyway ,fortune fools have fortune, although Norman is not as popular as Paul ,he still gets the one whom he wants to spend the rest of his life with. “We live alone and then we die alone. And,apparently,we stay alone.” (from Ghost Town) Apparently, He’s not alone.
They are not so different, however, they both love their family, but Paul’s addicting in gambling takes him from his family. It seems that it’s a tragedy. But what we get is not just one thing that Paul’s dead,we all get something unexspected. Then what is it ? Only we own know that.
