首先要说明的是，本篇博不是在写电影版的，我只是觉得作为该剧的super fan，在电影版出来前，应该先好好的总结一下以前的部分，毕竟电影版是与以前相接的，对于以前部分看得不是很明白或没看过或刚好想了解更细致系统的人，也许本文会有一定用处的，我保证你能从下面找到些有趣的东西。
有一大本彩色书，名叫[Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell]是一本可以叫做Bible的书，我相信很多人可能没看过，它包括这个剧所有内容，从制作到幕后，到每集剧情，到角色分析，到一些有趣的名词解释，和剧中所有出现的纽约好玩的地方，主角们到过的地方，住的地方，穿的衣服，everything about Sex and the City，有大量彩色图和文字。只可惜，我想中国国内应该不太能买到，即使有外文书店，怕也难以引进这本，所以我在下面摘录了里面很多精彩内容，加上我的想法，意见，和整理 （即便是摘录的文字也是自己一字字敲进去的，网上找不到直接复制的内容，所以请尊重别人的劳动哦）。虽然这不是第一次写这个show了，但绝对是最全面最细致的一次。I guarantee you will learn a lot!
开始前，以下几类人不适合阅读本文，符合条件者请马上离开：

2 本博文文字大部分是英文，因为一方面我觉得这样才能写出本剧“出色”的地方，第二我主要是自己留着用的，第三，my father，who can not read English but definitely can read Chinese, is regularly reading my blog; 第四，帮助那些想学英文的人，所以如果你是讨厌英文，也不愿意读英文的人，OUT! NOW!!
3 本博文全都是关于Sex and the City这个剧的，所以如果您对它没兴趣，根本没打算看的话，OUT! NOW!!
最后，有三个错误观点要纠正一下
1 Sex and the City一共有六季，不是七季，国内盗版做成了七季。
2 Sex and the City不是sitcom, 它不是在一个室内拍摄的情景剧，也没现场观众大声陪笑，也不是用很多摄影机，而是像电影一样，用一台机器拍摄，室内室外均有，所有制作方式都接近电影，当时制片人把它卖给HBO，一个条件就是要做成电影式的电视剧。
3 Sex and the City这个剧最主要和最精彩也是最惹人爱的东西不是sex，而是这个剧的剧本写得实在精彩，我指的主要是语言对白部分。如果你没感到，是因为你可能没有看英文字幕，而是看的中文字墓，翻译水平会影响你的理解和对它的评价，很多词根本中文字幕就没翻出来，意思更不多。如果你看的英文字幕，就会发现这是比任何电影或电视剧都好的英文教材，太多好句子和实用的表达，还有很多极其精炼的词语，就像我们的很多成语或俗语一样，精辟又富有深意。往往看一遍该剧体会不到，因为第一遍都集中看sex内容了，但如果看第二遍，特别是前四季的话，用英文字幕，你就会明白我的意思。每次看都会学到好多东西。比一些其他电视剧的对白写得好出不知多少倍。英文实用度和难度也在Friends等sitcom之上。它之所以有名和受人爱，也是因为里面的文字讲出了很多在任何其他地方都没有被人讲过的东西，充满大胆直接坦诚又百分百从女人角度出发的各种想法。而且既幽默讽刺又很有深度，还创造出很多有趣的词汇和用法，在别的地方保证找不到（下面有一些词汇罗列）。同时这个剧也道出了四个纽约单身职业女性的感情生活，里面既有一般人不会经历所以才吸引人的东西，也有全世界人都在经历的共同点，但每次她们在聊天时都会不经意说出很多关于女性，生活，爱情的真理。这四个角色本身当然也塑造得非常成功，基本上任何一个女人都会找到一个与她们特别接近的角色，还有，这里让你真正全面地认识纽约。不管你是因为什么喜欢这个show，归根结底，其实都是因为它“写”得特别好，这有原小说作者的功劳，也有编剧的功劳。 So sex and the city is not a show about good sex, it is a show about good writing!
OK, 基本上该出去的都出去了吧，it’s time to begin…
(一) The Four New York Single Women:
Once upon a time on a small island not too far away, there lived four smart, beautiful women who were all very good friends……They like to meet in a coffee shop to talk about men. When it came to their love lives, it seemed they could never agree on anything. They debated a wide variety of hot topics: marriage, divorce, pregnancy, honesty, fidelity, compatibility, and commitment.
Two of them are blondes, one brunette and one redhead.
Miranda and Samantha are the more masculine characters; Carrie and Charlotte are the more feminine.
But the four women have one thing in common: none of them had found Mr. Right.
Charlotte: “I hate it when you’re the only single person at a dinner party and they all look like you’re a ….”
Carrie: “Loser?”
Miranda: “Leper!”
Samantha: “Whore!”
The four women have dated, tried to date and refused to date quite a few Manhattan men in this show. As Miranda put it, “Who would have thought an island so small could hold all of our boyfriends?” (By the way, half of them are Samantha’s )
Did they find their Happily- Ever-After in the end? Actually, from the first episode, we have been told, in New York, there is no such a thing called Happily-Ever-After. But whatever lies ahead, the four women will always have each other, and they will always have New York.
按理来说，我应该先写Carrie，因为她是女主角，但这个show里我最喜欢、也觉得跟我有最多共同点并最崇拜的是Miranda，在作心理测试后，结果也说，我60%的Miranda, 30%的Carrie, 10%的Samantha，超准的！I am totally a Miranda girl! 所以请准许俺先写她。
1 Miranda Hobbes ----The woman I have most common with
Miranda是个“慢热”又愤事疾俗的人，表面上看很冷酷很干瘪，很怕别人接近她，防人心很重而且喜欢冷嘲热讽，但说话确实一语中地，是四个女人中最理智，但其实也是最脆弱的一个，就是因为怕受伤，才把自己保护得很好，很小心。在坚强外表下其实有颗很软又很渴望保护的心。我最爱听她讲话，总是妙语连珠，语言中充满哲理和智慧，而且很有幽默感。Miranda的服饰比较正统，因为职业的关系，日常穿着比较男性化，在家则最随意，但偶尔一打扮出去，与往日则变化特别大。一开始她似乎很讨厌男人，但后来慢慢的也在改变各种想法，特别是Steve改变她很多。

---with quick wit, pragmatism and deeply held opinions, she represents the realists.

---favorite topics are sexism, power and hypocrisy, always the first one to point out the sexual double standard
---utterly unafraid to say what she thinks and like to use a sense of humor when talk about embarrassed moments.
---sharp as nails and hilariously sarcastic but actually the most brittle one, underneath her hard exterior beats a soft, soulful heart
---sensitive about boundaries and tend to push men away.
2) Dating History:
She has a lot of weird dating experience: a Catholic guy that has to shower right after sex; a guy died on the first date; a phone-sexer who was having phone sex with more than one woman at the same time; a guy who has a spanking fetish; a guy who watches porn while having sex, and a guy who just not that into her…..
when she almost giving up all the men in the world, she met Steve, the bartender, who is soooo sweet that completely melt her down. Steve adored her unashamedly, lovingly and unconditionally
But Steve is a working-class and Miranda isn’t. Although they complemented each other emotionally, there are many issues kept getting in the way: class difference, her pessimism, his childish qualities, and they broke up twice but finally end up marring each other with a lovely child.
3) 结局
Miranda changed a lot as well. She used to refuse any kind of help and pity. She prefers to do anything by herself but eventually she opens to love from Steve and her friends. She used to hate children but after got pregnant by a mercy-fuck with Steve, she decided to keep the child and became a good mum and finally a good wife.
As a wife and mother, Miranda expanded her world and became an adult in the true sense of the word.

2 Carrie Bradshaw ---The woman I want to be but never can be
几乎所有看过本剧的人多少都会羡慕Carrie, her life, her style, her hair, her shoes, her clothes, her friends, her men….(Except for the smoking thing) and the city she lived in. Carrie是很会社交的人物，也有很好的性格，是个倾听者，男人与女人还有同性恋都喜欢与她作朋友，但她优柔寡断，很容易感情用事，和禁受不住诱惑而妥协，也很容易做出一些不理智的事情，特别不能同意的是having an affair with Big while he is married to Natasha。She is not perfect, but we still love her.
1)特征
--is a journalist who chronicled the battle of the sexes in her New York Star column.
--is a blithe spirit-- inquisitive, smart, striving and yearning
--With her intelligence, loyalty, mind-boggling fashion sensibility and open heart, she is the best friend every girl wants and the girlfriend of every guy’s dreams.
--Search for a man while maintain her independence
--Does not believe marriage is the be-all and end-all of life
--is so complex, not just any man will do, only can be with the one who is “strong enough to catch her”.
2）Dating History:
---Mr. Big: with Big, Carrie seems could never lead a Big-free life. But Big can let her be herself. They broke up a lot because of the “intimacy” issue: He has commitment issues; He likes to look at other women; married before; He does not want to take Carrie to see his parents; He does not consider Carrie when he made plans; He told Carrie that he does not want to marry again; Carrie thought she deserved someone who knew she was “the one”. They are on and off for many times.
---Aidan: a stable, down-home good guy. He forced her to examine her own commitment phobia. After two attempts to sustain their relationships—one that led to an affair with Big and one that led to their engagement, Carrie remained conflicted and Aidan left her.
---Jack Berger: a writer. Carrie tried her best to make this one work, but this time it was the man who wasn’t ready. He cannot take the fact that she is more successful than him. He left her with a Post-it!
---Aleksandr Petrovksy:an artist. He took Carrie to Paris but Carrie found out that she doesn’t want to live in someone else’s world.

3 Samantha Jones---the woman I want to be friends with
几乎所有人第一次看这剧都被Samantha吓到，she is such a wild horse！但是除了那horny part of her, 再看时发现这个女人其实很可爱，说话最冲，最直接也最有笑点，而且她也很独立，像Miranda一样非常powerful。她最后在癌症面前显示出的勇敢很令人敬佩。最爱看的就是她经常说话把Charlotte气到转头就跑。同时她很挺朋友，够意气，就算她风流，也从不会做出伤害朋友的事，而且不会随意评判别人，什么事都能接受，所以Carrie有很多话不敢跟别人说但一定会跟她说。我一直觉得有这么个朋友应该很Cool!可以从她那里学到很多东西，做了什么也不会被她批评，还有很多机会参加各种活动，认识很多人。I think she is really cool!

---is a public relations executive who believed women could have sex like men;
--- had an uninhibited, free-spirited approach to sex , practically slept with every man in Manhattan, or at least half of them.
---is not afraid of trying anything. There is no sexual act she will not try.

---for a long time, saw monogamy as a disease she didn’t want to catch
---in the six seasons that we saw, she slept more than 40 men, two women (including herself) and numerous vibrators.(only those that we “saw”)
--- she never sleep with friends’ boyfriends. Friendship is very important to her and she always stands up for her friends no matter what happens, even including taking care of baby.

2 ）Dating History (or Sex History)
She has slept with a septuagenarian, a college student, a fireman, a farmer, a baby talker, a man that is “too big” , a man that is “too small”, a lesbian, and many many other men with various of careers. She doesn’t care about religion, color, class or age. She is a real liberalist!
She does have some guys that she cares deeply:
---James, who is very lovable but unfortunately has a penis the size of pencil eraser.
---Dominic, a guy used to break her heart.
---Maria, a lesbian artist that she involved too much talking
---Richard, a total match for her, (like Big for Carrie, has commitment issues) but bad for her too. From him, Samantha realized that she has a vulnerable side that she doesn’t want to confront.
---Smith, after living for sex for so many years, finally there is a man treats her like a real girlfriend. When Samantha has cancer, it is Smith who is taking care of her and holding her hands.
3）结局
Samantha, deserved loud applause by showing great braveness when facing cancer and this most fiercely independent woman, had found a relationship that didn’t camp her style, but allowed her to be joyful and content.

Biggest Mistakes: Wasting time on guys like Richard.

4 Charlotte York ---a woman I never want to be and never will be
如果非要让我在四人中选一个不喜欢的，恐怕就是Charlotte。She is like a mom, she is like everyone’s mom，在别人说到尽兴时在旁边泼冷水的类型，有的时候真想扶着她的肩膀使劲摇晃她，让她清醒一些，怎么那么看不开和死脑筋？She has made so many foolish mistakes, including marrying Trey. 但是要承认的是，偶尔她的保守和规矩也让人感觉有个人在旁边时刻给敲警钟似乎也是好事。而且她是几人中最漂亮的，这个我要承认，所以经常她一穿晚礼服就让人很“惊艳！”至于她的感情故事则完全是Shreck童话的现实版。

---is a rosy-eyed idealist, but honest and brave.
---often espouses a traditional view of men, marriage and commitment

---Always wants to have a child but hard to get pregnant
2）Dating History:
She always wants to find prince-charming, but instead, she met Licky-Faced Guy, Up-the Butt Guy, Fall-Asleep Guy, Getting-in-Fights Guy, Yell-During Sex Guy, and so many Weird Guys(Miranda和Charlotte是四人种遇到“恐怖男”最多的两位，什么奇怪品种都赶上了)…then finally a “Prince-Charming”--Dr. Trey, but he cannot “get it up” and with lots of problems …so she moved on but never give up …then she met “Shrek” --The lawyer, Harry, finally found her “Happily- Ever- After”, just not what she used to dream of .
---Trey helped Charlotte to grow up, from a woman with lots of rules to a woman knowing how to compromise.
---Harry is nothing like Charlotte was looking for but everything she needed. Harry gave Charlotte the best sex of her life, Judaism, and ultimately, a ring. Harry’s imperfect perfection helped Charlotte through a miscarriage and an adoption.

In the end, Charlotte completed an impressive transformation from a woman who cared so much about what was good on paper to one who finally learned to listen to her own heart.

The biggest mistake: Married Trey so fast after they met without finding out the sex problem and getting to know each other more.

（二）The Guys in the show
1 Mr. Big---the Soul Mate
Handsome, sexy, charming, smart, mature, rich, worldly, sophisticated, and driven, Big is Carrie’s perfect match. But he has so many problems with intimacy, commitment and honesty. Every time, Carrie tried to look for a sign that Big really loves her, he is not there. He is a guy that finds it is so difficult to say to someone “I love you” or “You are the One”. He has been through two marriages, both ends up cheating with another woman.
Mr. Big was modeled on Vogue publisher Ron Galotti. (No wonder he likes to date models!)
The real problem of Big, in my opinion, is he doesn’t want to give up his own freedom but still wants other people in his life.
The chemistry between Big and Carrie is so strong that no matter how many times they broke up, they always managed to wind up together again.
Although it seems Big is bad for Carrie and he hurt her a lot, he is always there every time Carrie needs him most: when she is lonely, she is in trouble of money, or when everyone else let her down. He is the only man that really fits Carrie, enough for Carrie and can let Carrie be herself.
After so many break ups, we see them end up together at the end of the show and we think they can finally live happily ever after! But why he is trying to get away again from the wedding? We will find out in the movie.
2 Aidan ---the Perfect guy
Aidan is the perfect guy that every girl dreamed of, the down-to-earth boyfriend and great husband type who can love you with his whole heart. Accessible, loyal and devoted, he is everything Mr Big isn’t. He is the anti-Mr Big guy:
Big doesn’t like to stay in Carrie’s home and doesn’t like Carrie leave any stuff in his home. Big also doesn’t like to introduce Carrie to his mother. But Aidan always stay in Carrie’s place , cook for her, introduce her to his parents when they just started dating. Aidan loves Carrie crazily and unconditionally. And he is the first one that is willing to live with her and proposed to her. Aidan is the guy perfect for marriage but just not the right guy for Carrie because Carrie is too wild for him. He always stay at home, doesn’t like to go to the bars or clubs, he is too boring for Carrie.
(When Aidan与Carrie第一次分手后, 很多观众抗议, 因为Aiden是做家具的,观众向HBO寄去各种家具写上文字,让他回到剧里, Big的影迷也有这样做,送的是气球,写着 “不要让Big飘走”)
By the way, when Aidan back in the Forth Season, he looks thinner and much better with his shorter hair. At that moment, for the first time, I felt Carrie should choose him over Big. However she didn’t. …It must take so much strength to let such a great guy slip away. I will never do something like that.
3 Steve Brady---the Sweetest guy (My favorite guy of the show!)
He is not tall or rich but he is like sunshine for Miranda. I almost feel that he is there to save Miranda from her angry and lonely life. Because of him, Miranda is happy and changed a lot. They just look so perfect for each other. Every Miranda-girl will need a man sweet like Steve to match her up because other men are just not warm enough to melt down her cold heart. Where is my Steve? T___T
4 Harry---the Shrek
Harry wasn’t supposed to be Charlotte’s dream man—she chose him as her divorce lawyer expressly because he was someone she wasn’t attracted to. But Harry was a great lawyer and is crazy about Charlotte. She found herself having the best sex of her life with the very hairy, sweaty baldly. The only thing between them is the religion difference. I really admire Charlotte that she can become a Jew for marriage. I can never do that! (It just like Fionna chooses to become an ogre for marring Shrek!)
5 Smith Jerrod---the Superhero
Samantha never thought she is someone needs to be rescued or saved, she even doesn’t like to be hold hands. But when she got cancer, she finally felt it is good that there is a guy around to love her. Smith and Samantha met the usual Samantha-way, but after the sex, surprisingly he wants to stay for a little longer and Samantha wants him around too. Even he is much younger than her, he is the one show up when Samantha needed him most and he just kept reaching her hands, again and again.
(三) New York City---the city itself is the fifth main character in the show
Part of the reason I love the show is because it’s a story about the city as well. I am a huge City-Lover and urban person. I love all the big and global cities in the world, NYC, London, LA, Paris, Berlin, Toronto, Beijing….so I love those movies or TV shows that really tell the stories of a city. New York City is always so glamorous to me, the lights, the skyscrapers, the central park, the Time Square, the fashion, the theatres, the people on the streets....everything is really charming and exciting to me. I was there for a while and really loved any piece of it. I wish to go back to visit sometime soon.
New York City is a place where the strangest sorts of people have a way of coming together. Where people get around in small yellow buggies(the cab), go to delis at four in the morning, drink pink cocktails, and run into exes(ex-bfs/ex-gfs) when they least want to see them. A city of towering heels and nerves of steel, so bold and alive that no matter what day of the week it is, there’ s always a party somewhere. An island with so many single guys that you can find a “man” right insight its name.
In New York City, you walk out the door and you do not know what is going to happen. There’s such potential for poetry.
在这本书里和Sex and the City的官方网站上都能找到地图，告诉你剧中那些很酷的酒吧，餐厅，商店，酒店等的名字和位置，除了主角的住处外，其余地方都是真实存在的！！！利用这些地图可以更好的了解纽约，将来旅游很有用！

（四）Fashion---the sixth main character of the show!
里面提到的品牌和各种饰物太多了，我不是个有时尚敏感度的人，所以看到第三遍才开始注意这些，除了早听说过的Channel, Dior, Prada等，以下这些给我印象比较深刻：
---Manolo Blahnik (Shoes)---90% of shoes Carrie wore in the show are Manolo Blahnik. Sex and the City and Sara Jessica Parker had done great advertising for this shoe brand and they even made a shoe named SJP to thank Parker
（Bevely Hills也有这个店，但俺这个对时尚不感兴趣的人已经路过那里无数遍直到上个月才注意到它的存在！- -|||，蓝猫的时尚智商是：。。。zero! But I know all the best cinemas and all the cool movie-related-products stores in LA!）

1 The good writing, actually it is the best-written one among all the TV shows I have ever seen. And you can only appreciate this by watching it in English subtitle. There are so many beautiful sentences, lines, words in the show that every time I watched it I will learn something new.
2 The heartbreaks, hopes, loneliness, and triumphs of being single and searching for love
3 The intimate friendships of four women
4 The way the characters illustrates their love for their home, New York City. The city plays a very important part in the show.
5 Struggle to find intimacy and the struggle for wholeness and completeness.
6 Since 1998, changed the way people look at single women, at relationships, and at female friendships.
