Q:Have you seen Kung Fu Panda?
A:Yes, I have and I think it's a great film, definitely one people should go see. I can see how much effort the filmmaker put into studying the Chinese cultural background.
Q:Since you're a fan of the movie, why are you organizing a debate on "Is Hollywood violating China"?
A:It's part of a regular series of forums the some friends and I hold once every month on movies. Considering Kung Fu Panda is a popular and controversial movie, we think it's a good topic.

)
Q:There are some negative reviews about the movie arising from a Chinese artist Mr. Zhao Bandi. What do you think of those opinions?
A:With respect to Mr. Zhao's comments on the movie, my attitude is in partial disagreement. I can't agree with the reasons he objects to the movie–some of them are quite ridiculous. I don't support a boycott on everything coming from Hollywood for its relationship with Sharon Stone. I believe the way he thinks about the film is something we should learn from.
Q:How so?
A:After watching Hollywood films that borrow from our culture, we need to look back at Chinese films. Why don't we make good use of our own traditional culture and mix it with the modern movie industry?
Q:Can you tell us more about the debate you are organizing? Who do you think will attend?
A:Judging from our past experiences, all kinds of people will show up to our event and participate. For Kung Fu Panda, I am expecting more young people to come and join in.
Q:What kind of opinions do you expect from participants?
A:I think the young generation will share my opinion.
Q:Which is…
A:To analyze the movie in a calm manner. They will let themselves enjoy the film but they won't object to learning from Hollywood about how to promote Chinese traditions and then use them in Chinese films.
Q:What movies do you think foreigners should see that accurately represent China?
A:I think Kung Fu movies are still good to see since they show the elements of Chinese culture Westerners are most familiar with. However, Westerners just need to be aware that these are just impressions of China.
Q:What Kung Fu movies respect Chinese traditions?
A:Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a good example that was universally well-received–but we can't really call that a Hollywood production.
